Been A While...

Well after an semi abrupt move to St louis, I have continued my efforts to get in the industry. I am currently enrolled in a Game Design program in one of the private schools in St louis. I looked around when I first moved here, and a lot of places were teaching a lot of software that were not industry standards. Some didn't even have information for me on what programs were offered during the courses. Some even had the balls to say that Corel Draw was the industry standard for the graphic arts community. Wow, I mean I know it was good, like 10 years ago.. but I am pretty sure that they dont make it anymore due to the fact that Photoshop and all the Adobe software line up were top of the line in the creative community. Another actually asked me what Photoshop was....and said that they used CAD for 3d art.... needless to say that was a college that had no idea what they were talking about.
I finally found one that was offering 3dStudios Max 7, as well as Macromedia Flash. For the most part from some Close friends in the industry, the 2 main 2d software are Maya and 3dsMax. So I was excited to find an actual class on one of the industry's standard. I really don't see the logic in learning a program and getting a degree in something that isn't used in the Video Game Industry.

So word of advise, Don't take a class on software that isn't in use for your desired job, your just wasting your time.
More updates later on as I progress thru the classes.
Peace.
